The Water Authority's trucks and heavy equipment were headquartered in Escondido in 1952, as they are today.
North County Pipeline Upgrades Complete
Water Authority crews completed relining a 2.3-mile segment of Pipeline 5 in Fallbrook and San Marcos, returning the pipeline to service in April. The pipeline was relined with new steel liners expected to last for more than 75 years. The $31 million project was conducted in eight segments to minimize impacts to the nearby communities. During construction, crews eliminated two planned portals, helping save more than $217,000.
To rehabilitate this segment of the pipeline in San Marcos and Fallbrook, crews worked underground to
replace aging steel liners. Most construction activities occurred at portals spaced 525 to 2,500 feet apart.
