The Water Authority formed with nine charter members in 1944 to administer the region’s Colorado River rights, import water, and take over operations of the regional aqueduct.
Kerl Appointed as Acting General Manager
Following the retirement of Maureen Stapleton, Deputy General Manager Sandra L. Kerl was named acting general manager as the Board retained an executive search firm to find the next person to lead the agency’s staff. Kerl joined the agency in November 2009, after a lengthy career with the City of La Mesa, where she served as city manager from 2003 to 2009. The hiring process was designed to include civic, business, and community stakeholders to help guide the Board’s assessment of candidates.
Sandra L. Kerl was named Acting General Manager in March 2019 to ensure that projects and operations
continued to run smoothly during the search for a new GM.
