The Water Authority formed with nine charter members in 1944 to administer the region’s Colorado River rights, import water, and take over operations of the regional aqueduct.
Facility Upgrades Enhance Security
The Water Authority took several measures in fiscal year 2019 to enhance the security of its Kearny Mesa headquarters and grounds, following a review the previous year that included consultations with the Department of Homeland Security. Upgrades included several physical improvements to the headquarters facility, surveillance cameras and card readers to better monitor and control access; and updated internal safety and security policies. In addition, the Water Authority also implemented cybersecurity measures to address growing cybersecurity risks.
