The Water Authority supported the election of Gloria Gray as the Chairwoman of the MWD Board of Directors in January, renewing a sense of collaboration between the two agencies after years of litigation. Gray and Water Authority Board Chair Jim Madaffer jointly expressed their willingness to work together on water issues, and Gray appointed three Water Authority delegates – Jerry Butkiewicz, Michael Hogan and Tim Smith – to leadership positions on the MWD Board. In addition, the Water Authority Board in February approved Gail Goldberg as a delegate to MWD, filling a vacancy created by the departure of Fern Steiner from MWD’s board.
