Construction Projects

The San Diego County Water Authority is executing an ambitious plan to design and build world-class public works projects to help reduce its dependence on imported water and enhance its water delivery system to meet water demands within the region. This plan, developed in 1989, is called the Capital Improvement Program (CIP).

Construction began on the San Vicente Dam Raise

Since 2002, a Regional Water Facilities Master Plan has identified additional projects and facilities that need to be included in the CIP to ensure the Water Authority can achieve its mission of providing a safe and reliable water supply to San Diego County. Many of these facilities have since been constructed or are being constructed. The agency is currently updating the master plan for completion in 2012.

The Water Authority strives to be a good neighbor to local residents and businesses residing near its current and future facilities by providing up-to-date information to and working with the communities that are affected by construction projects.
