Water Authority Programs Sustain Region’s Water Reliability
The Water Authority develops and manages several complementary programs to support the San Diego region’s $268 billion economy and quality of life for 3.3 million residents.
The programs span all aspects of the regional water delivery system, including managing critical water infrastructure, coordinating with the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California on imported water supplies, advocating for the region in local and state legislation, protecting the environment and building renewable energy resources.
Asset Management
Portions of the Water Authority delivery system are several decades old, and it’s critical to actively monitor, update and repair facilities to minimize impacts for member agencies and the public.
Energy
The Water Authority operates hydroelectric and solar energy projects – and it’s looking for cost-saving opportunities to leverage its current infrastructure to expand clean energy programs.
Environmental
The Water Authority supports cost-effective sustainability programs that will benefit the environment and promote thoughtful stewardship of our natural resources.
Government Relations
The Water Authority actively engages on legislation in Sacramento and Washington, D.C., to communicate policies and positions established by the Water Authority Board of Directors with state and federal legislators and government officials.
Metropolitan Water District
The Water Authority’s Metropolitan Water District Program supports the agency’s Board officers and MWD delegates in developing and implementing strategies to achieve the Water Authority’s supply reliability goals.
Right-of-Way
The Water Authority owns or has rights to use to operate, maintain or repair agency facilities across the region – and the agency actively manages those rights of way to ensure they are accessible and free of obstructions.
