Miramar Hills to Scripps Ranch Relining
Project Background
Pipelines 3 and 4 Relined Between Miramar Hill and Scripps Ranch
The Miramar Hill to Scripps Ranch Relining Project rehabilitated approximately 3.25 miles of two of the Water Authority’s pipelines that traverse portions of the Mira Mesa and Scripps Ranch communities. Work was performed on segments of Pipelines 3 and 4 to extend the life of the large-diameter pipelines. The relining process was designed to reduce impacts to the nearby residents and communities by conducting work underground, rather than trenching. Relining is also quicker and more cost-effective than removing and replacing existing pipelines. New steel liners reinforce the pipeline from within and increase the reliability of the regional water supply.
The project is a component of the Water Authority’s Pipeline Relining Program.
