Water Authority Offices Closed to Public

Starting Monday, March 16, the San Diego County Water Authority is closing its Kearny Mesa and Escondido facilities to the public as part of the nationwide effort to limit the spread of coronavirus. Like other public agencies across the region, the Water Authority is taking several precautionary steps to protect employees and minimize opportunities for virus transmission. Those steps include cancelling non-essential meetings, holding critical meetings electronically, and minimizing travel. New Study Assesses Multi-Benefit Water Conveyance System

The San Diego County Water Authority’s Board of Directors in July 2019 approved a contract to study the viability of a new regional conveyance system that would deliver water from the Colorado River to San Diego County and provide multiple benefits across the Southwest. The $1.9 million contract was awarded to Black & Veatch Corporation for a two-phase study. A new report by the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation highlights the multi-billion-dollar economic impact of safe and reliable water supplies for the San Diego region. “The Importance of Water Reliability to San Diego’s Economy” provides an overview of more than $2.4 billion invested by the San Diego County Water Authority in five major water reliability projects over the past two decades.
