Water Authority Seeks Right-Sized, Cost-Effective Bay-Delta Plan
The San Diego County Water Authority’s Board of Directors on Thursday provided guidance to staff on the scope of its proposed analysis of alternatives for fixing water supply reliability and ecosystem problems plaguing the Sacramento-San Joaquin Bay-Delta in Northern California.
North County Pipeline Being Drained as Safety Measure
Construction crews are starting the process to repair a faulty connection between two large-diameter water pipes in San Marcos after a leaky pipe coupling was discovered this morning.
The San Diego County Water Authority took immediate steps to facilitate repairs, including draining approximately 15 acre-feet of treated water from Pipeline 4. An acre-foot is about 325,900 gallons, enough to serve two typical families of four for a year. The water will be de-chlorinated before it’s drained to minimize its environmental impact.
National Fix a Leak Week Delivers Discounted Leak-Stopping Services
As part of the regional effort to reduce water waste, the San Diego County Water Authority and its member agencies are again partnering with the local chapter of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association during national Fix a Leak Week, March 14-20, to make fixing water leaks less costly for residents and businesses.
State Water-Use Reduction Mandates Start Today
The period for local water agencies to start achieving state-mandated water-use targets starts today, making it critical for homes and businesses across San Diego County to immediately limit irrigation of ornamental landscapes with potable water to no more than two days a week.
