The San Diego County Water Authority is encouraging students from second through sixth grade to enter its “Be WaterSm‘ART’ Essay Contest.” The deadline for submitting entries is Thursday, March 8 at 5 p.m.
Students are required to submit an original essay, poem or letter, along with a drawing sharing the phrase, “Being watersmart is cool because…” Details on the contest can be found at www.sdcwa.org/be-watersmart-essay-contest.
Public water supplies remain safe as Water Authority and member agencies coordinate on precautionary measures
The San Diego County Water Authority has a new web-based camera system at San Vicente Dam that allows the public to watch progress on the world’s largest roller-compacted concrete dam raise. Two cameras offer broad views of construction activities, enabling viewers on the website to see the dam rise up from its foundation, as concrete is placed layer upon layer to bring the new dam to its full height of 337 feet.

Elected at the board’s final meeting in 2006, Fern Steiner of San Diego will chair the board, with Claude “Bud” Lewis of Carlsbad serving as vice chair and Mark Watton of Spring Valley as secretary. They began their two-year terms January 1.

Typically, these imposters arrive without an appointment and try to gain entry into a home by saying they have been sent to check the home’s water system or test water quality. The imposter’s intent may be theft or fraud.
