San Diego County residents interested in making their yards and gardens more attractive and water efficient will have an opportunity to get information from gardening experts and save up to 50 percent on select varieties of low-water-use plants at San Diego County Garden Friendly Plant Fairs this spring at select The Home Depot locations.

The plant fairs will take place on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at different Home Depot locations around the county between February 25 and May 5.   Each plant fair will feature discounts on more than 20 types of plants pre-selected by a panel of experts as water-efficient for the San Diego region.

In addition, landscape industry experts will be at the fairs to provide customers with information on water-efficient irrigation supplies and how to select and plant low-water-use plants.  The Home Depot certified nursery consultants will host informative how-to workshops, and local retail water agency staff also will be on hand to provide customers with information on water conservation programs and services.

“This is a great partnership between the San Diego County Water Authority, our local retail member agencies, and The Home Depot to generate more awareness and encourage more use of water-efficient landscapes in our region,” Water Authority Board Chair Michael T. Hogan said.  “Efficient water use needs to be a permanent part of our way of life, because we rely heavily on imported water supplies that are vulnerable to drought or other challenges.”
