Public agencies throughout the region are embarking on a new path of cooperation to make it easier for contractors to bid on public projects. Recent regional developments and the passage of multiple bonds in the last election have made billions of dollars available for the improvement of public infrastructure throughout San Diego County. Among these is a California Department of Water Resources (DWR) $25 million grant that will provide funding for several local projects to benefit San Diego water reliability.

Recognizing that these funds are now available and construction will occur in the next several years, public agencies in the region want to ensure that local companies are aware of and able to respond to the these new and exciting opportunities.

In addition to streamlining the bidding process, many public agencies are coordinating the timing of large bids so contractors do not become overburdened trying to respond to multiple, simultaneous bid requests.

The event is sponsored by San Diego County Water Authority, Caltrans, California Department of General Services, the city of San Diego, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Poway Unified School District, San Diego Association of Governments, San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, San Diego Community College District, San Diego Unified School District, Sweetwater Union High School District, Olivenhain Municipal Water District and Port of San Diego.

Registration information is available at www.pathsreg.org or contact Lorise W. Maynard at (858) 522-6622 or lmaynard@sdcwa.org.
