Our Awards

Throughout the year, the Water Authority earned 17 awards and distinctions for its projects and programs from a variety of local, state, national and international organizations.  Awards and distinctions received include:

• American Council of Engineering Companies, California Section: Engineering Excellence Honor Award, Camp Pendleton Seawater Desalination Feasibility Study
• American Public Works Association, San Diego and Imperial Counties Chapter: Utility Project of the Year (projects between $26 million and $75 million), Mission Trails Pipeline Tunnel and Vent Demolition Project
• Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada: Investment Policy Certificate of Excellence Award
• California Department of Public Health: Water Authority’s Training Outreach Program won approval to provide continuing education units for 17 courses toward recertification requirements for water treatment and distribution operator certifications
• California Emergency Services Association, Southern California Chapter: Outstanding Service to the Field of Emergency Management, Water Agencies Emergency Collaborative of San Diego (the collaborative is comprised of Water Authority and member agency emergency response staff)
• California Society of Municipal Finance Officers: Excellence Award in Operating Budget, fiscal years 2012 and 2013 Adopted Multi-Year Budget
• Center for Digital Government  Best in California Awards: Best In-House Developed Application Award, Online Water Ordering System
• Construction Management Association of America, San Diego Chapter: Project Achievement Award, Mission Trails Pipeline Tunnel and Vent Demolition Project
• Government Finance Officers Association: Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, Fiscal Year 2011 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report
• Government Finance Officers Association: Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, fiscal years 2012 and 2013 Adopted Multi-Year Budget
• International Association of Business Communicators – Pacific Plains Region: Silver Quill Award of Excellence, 2010 Annual Report
• International City/County Management Association: Center for Performance Measurement’s Certificate of Achievement for Strategic and Business Plan Reporting
• Municipal Information Systems Association of California: Quality in IT Practices Award
• National Association of Environmental Professionals: National Environmental Excellence Award for Conservation Programs, All-American Canal Lining Project
