SALARY RANGE: $5,163 - $6,944 per month. (Appointments may
be made above the minimum salary. The salary will be established commensurate
with the qualifications of the individual selected for the position.)
THE POSITION:
The candidate selected for this position, will assist in formulation of the
Water Authority’s Urban Water Management Plan and Annual Water Supply
Report, the San Diego Integrated Regional Water Management Plan, and other water
planning related documents through data collection, interpretation, and analysis
in the areas of water supply development, demand forecasting, water quality,
and land-use planning; work with Water Authority departments, member agencies,
Metropolitan Water District, San Diego Association of Governments, and other
related agencies, in preparation of water planning documents; review and comment
on technical and non-technical reports and documents prepared by others; prepare
board reports and other written correspondence for water resources projects
and programs; and provide technical assistance and support in the areas of water
deliveries, water demand projections, water rates, and water supply development.
Incumbent is expected to accurately assemble and interpret technical data from
multiple sources; conduct and participate in technical projects and studies;
perform complex water resource management and water quality analyses using computer
models, spreadsheets, and databases; analyze relevant issues and problems; develop
alternatives and make appropriate recommendations; understand and apply Water
Authority policies, regulations, and programs, and federal, state, and local
laws applicable to water resources issues; identify research needs and exercise
initiative in carrying out research assignments; exercise sound independent
judgment within established guidelines; maintain effective working relationships
with those encountered in the course of the work; and perform other duties as
assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework
in urban or regional planning, civil or environmental engineering, economics,
public administration, natural resources management, or a closely related field;
and three years of progressively responsible professional water resources planning
experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid
California driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under
the Water Authority’s vehicle insurance policy is required.

The San Diego County Water Authority was established in 1944 to supply the San
Diego region with a safe and secure water supply. Through its 24 member agencies,
including the City of San Diego, the Water Authority provides the San Diego
region with more than 90% of its water supply. With an acute awareness of San
