Public agencies make bidding easier for contractors
Ninth annual Paths to Partnerships Networking Forum showcases this effort
On Sept. 20, 2007 several large, regional public agencies will host the ninth annual Paths to Partnerships Networking Forum. This forum will feature discussion forums focusing on water, wastewater, transportation, education, development, and how to do business with the state of California. In addition part of the afternoon will be dedicated to contractor, consultant, vendor, and public agency exhibits. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with key decision makers and industry experts, and receive a two-year look-ahead of upcoming public agency projects.
Public agencies throughout the region are embarking on a new path of cooperation to make it easier for contractors to bid on public projects. Recent regional developments and the passage of multiple bonds in the last election have made billions of dollars available for the improvement of public infrastructure throughout San Diego County. Recognizing that these funds are now available and construction will occur in the next several years, public agencies in the region want to ensure that as many companies as possible are aware of and able to respond to the these new and exciting opportunities.
In addition to streamlining the bidding process, agencies are working together to coordinate the timing of large bids so contractors do not become overburdened trying to respond to multiple bid requests at the same time.
The event is sponsored by San Diego County Water Authority, Caltrans, California Department of General Services, the city of San Diego, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Poway Unified School District, San Diego Association of Governments, San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, San Diego Community College District, San Diego Unified School District, Sweetwater Union High School District, Olivenhain Municipal Water District and Port of San Diego.
