Recycled Water Regional System Study
Regional Recycled Water System Study
In support
of the Regional Water Facilities Master Plan, the Authority is conducted the
Regional Recycled Water System Study. The study was developed and analyzed system
alternatives/strategies and evaluated the feasibility of a regional recycled
water system for San Diego County. A review of the current and proposed water
recycling programs in the County indicates there is an imbalance in the geographic
location of recycled water sources and markets. In addition, it is becoming
apparent from the ongoing master planning effort that some portions of the Authority's
system may become available for other uses as new facilities are put into service.
Incorporating existing Authority facilities into other local agencies' phased
recycled water system expansions could create a regional system that could link
recycled water production facilities with markets, thereby efficiently solving
the supply and demand imbalances and maximizing reuse.
The study was completed in March 2002.
A copy of the final report is available at the Authority.
