Smart Controller Rebate for Single-Family Homeowners (Pilot Program)

NEW INCENTIVE!! OFFER EXTENDED THROUGH JUNE 30, 2008.

A ‘Smart’ or Weather-based Irrigation Controller can be an effective technology for reducing water usage outdoors. Unlike a standard automatic timer that turns on the sprinklers at set intervals, a ‘Smart’ Controller uses weather data and site information such as plant type and sprinkler system output to adjust watering times and frequency. Because proper installation and initial set-up of these controllers generally requires an in-depth knowledge of soils, precipitation rates, slope measurements and related factors, professional installation is required for this program.

A smart controller will not make-up for irrigation design flaws; in most cases, it will highlight inefficiencies in your system which require fixing prior to the realization of any savings. Additional consultations with your installer may be necessary to calibrate smart controller settings.

Note: Installation of a smart controller may lead to an increase in your water use and may require additional irrigation design changes. Contact your landscaper if changes are made to the landscape to ensure your smart controller settings reflect your new design.
