Clothes Washer Qualifying Product List
The Residential High-Efficiency Clothes Washer (HEW) Voucher Program provides
a point-of-purchase discount of $175 off the cost of a new qualifying HEW. These
machines use 65% less water and 55% less energy per load than standard top-loading
machines. Drying time can be cut in half. HEWs are also credited with cleaning
clothes more thoroughly, reducing detergent requirements, and reducing wear
and tear on clothing! The Program is sponsored by the San Diego County Water
Authority, its participating member agencies, the Metropolitan Water District
of Southern California, and San
Diego Gas and Electric Company under the auspices of the California Public Utilities

The Processing Center is open Monday – Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
To qualify for the voucher discount, the HEW must have a water factor of 6.0
or less. The water factor is a measure of the total water used by the washer.
The less water used per cubic foot of laundry, the lower the water factor and
the greater the machine efficiency. Please be aware that this list is updated
frequently so use the most current list available.

Municipal Water District, City of Del Mar, City of Escondido, Fallbrook Public
Utility District, Helix Water District, City of Oceanside, Lakeside Water District,
Olivenhain Municipal Water District, Otay Water District, Padre Dam Municipal
Water District, City of Poway, Rainbow Municipal Water District, Ramona Municipal
Water District, Rincon Del Diablo Municipal Water District, City of San Diego,
San Dieguito Water District, Santa Fe Irrigation District, Sweetwater Authority,
Vallecitos Water District, Valley Center Municipal Water District, and Vista
Irrigation District
 Qualifications:
- Most residential customers in participating member agencies are eligible.
The vouchers will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis since
the supply is limited. Only one HEW per voucher and one voucher per dwelling
unit will be issued.
- The clothes washer must be from the Authority-approved list of high-efficiency
models.
- Customers participating in the program agree to respond to a brief water
conservation survey and allow an
on-site installation verification.
- Used, remanufactured or reconditioned washers do not qualify for voucher
discounts.
Follow these steps:
- Call the Voucher Processing Center at 800-986-4538 to make sure you are
a customer in an eligible area and that vouchers are still available.
- Within one week of receipt of your request, subject to availability, we
will mail a voucher redeemable for up to $175.
- Vouchers expire 30 days after issuance. Upon receipt, please check the expiration
date and purchase your HEW before the voucher expires. You may request an
"instant" voucher and, if eligible, it will be faxed directly to
the store. Instant vouchers expire three days after issuance.
- Use your voucher to purchase a qualifying clothes washer from a participating
retailer. Be sure to choose a HEW that is on the Authority's list of approved
models.
- After you have purchased your HEW, mail a copy of the sales receipt and
the pink copy of the voucher to the Voucher Processing Center. The mailing
address is indicated on the voucher form.
- All voucher program participants are subject to an on-site installation
verification.
