FREEBIE ALERT: Water Conservation Garden
By: Nancy Clement
One of East County’s treasures is The Water Conservation Garden. Sunset Magazine calls it one of the “Top 10 Gardens of the West.” This is a beautiful and relaxing place to spend a leisurely afternoon. However, it’s also a learning experience!
We all know our water rates have gone up as water issues in Southern California have made the news. Here’s a place where you can enjoy the scenery while you learn more about water-wise plants that grow well in our region. There are many examples of landscaping, plants and trees that can enhance your property value and save you money. Open daily from 9am – 4pm, the address is 12122 Cuyamaca College Dr. West in El Cajon, 92019, for more info: http://www.thegarden.org.
Don’t have time to visit The Garden? Peruse the website and download a full color brochure “Nifty 50 Plants for Water Smart Landscaping” that features information on easy-to-grow plants. There are other resources on the site that will help you with your water-wise and garden planning decision-making.
