Coastkeeper appoints Clay Clifton as project manager

San Diego Coastkeeper has appointed Clay Clifton as its watershed monitoring program manager.

Clifton has more than a decade of experience in monitoring contamination at public beaches, most recently for the Ocean Recreational Water Program for the County of San Diego, Department of Environmental Health.

“Clay ran San Diego County’s award winning beach water quality monitoring program for more than a decade; his name in synonymous with water monitoring in this region,” said Bruce Reznik, executive director of San Diego Coastkeeper. “Clay’s leadership and expertise perfectly complements our volunteer watershed monitoring program, which is the largest in the state.”

Clifton will run Coastkeeper’s watershed monitoring program, which conducts monthly sampling of nine of the county’s 11 watersheds. The samples are then analyzed and used by the environmental group to lobby for preservation of the water supply.
