Letter to the editor: We've conserved, and rates go up
Today is the first day of our increased water rate increase. But, you may say, how can that be since we've done such a good job in the past year of conserving this valuable resource? That's just it — we've done such a good job that the revenue has decreased and they have to make it up somehow.
I guess (they are) penalizing those who have done their part (the citizens) in conserving, instead of having the utility company improving management systems and running the business more efficiently. I guess when it comes time to elect a new council (and we should) — we could pose the question: Shouldn't we the citizens, who pay the salaries of both politicians and the utility company, benefit from our sacrifices?
