Letter to the Editor: Water problem?

We, the consumers of water, have saved water until the rain came for two weeks, saving water in our dams, enough to be used in the coming summertime. Water suppliers are now streamlining and improving operating efficiencies by reducing labor costs, energy-efficiency savings, lower fuel, maintenance and construction costs, and capital improvement projects, reducing the need to purchase higher cost of Tier-2 and increase conservation efforts.

After all these are done, as of February 2010, the water cost monthly charge has gone up from 6 to 13 percent. If we have done all these means to conserve, yet the water costs still go up, why don't all the cities of Riverside County be like San Jacinto — to have well water of our own so we will not be paying a higher rate that is coming from major water suppliers?

French Valley is paying special assessments and fixed charges, enough to build a water well like San Jacinto. Can French Valley do the same? Budget consultants and legislators, please look into this water well. If there is a way, there is a well of water that will be subsidized.
