Letter to the Editor: Local governments are nuts

The governments around here are nuts.

No. 1: Vista has car dealership and sales tax envy. Hundreds of car dealerships are closing, including KIA in Oceanside. Vista is using eminent domain on a motel. Oceanside is about to pay for a marketing campaign for people to use motels. What?

No. 2: Everywhere water, but not a drop to drink. California is conserving so other states could have their share. What? Does water flow downhill around here? Do you know what they call Colorado toilet water? San Diego tap! Keep importing it and don't worry. There is no water shortage here, just water with salt. No eminent domain?

No. 3: Everything in life costs more when you import. The old power plant needs a retrofit. Oh wait, the lawsuits. They came up with a second location, the lawsuits. We will be lucky to get one, when we need both. What about that eminent domain?

No. 4: The state budget. Let's see, I.O.U.s last year. Then I heard the ad pushing a California bond so the state can keep investing in stem-cell research. The I.O.U.s worked out so well, they expanded this highly successful government program.
